Reportable Safety and Security Concerns
Ride. See. Report. supports the national “See Something, Say Something” campaign, encouraging riders to report suspicious activity and help keep transit safe.
If you see any of the following situations on any VVTA Bus or on or near a VVTA transit Hub, please report them:
- Assault or Fighting
- Crime in Progress
- Disruptive or Unruly Behavior
- Drug / Alcohol Use or Overdose
- Human Trafficking
- Medical Emergency
- Robbery or Theft
- Sexual Assault or Harassment
- Suspicious Activity
- Unattended Bag or Package
- Illegally Parked Vehicle Blocking Transit
- Vandalism or Graffiti
- Maintenance or Safety Hazards
- Panhandling or Soliciting
- Wellness Checks
- Comments, Complaints, and more…
If you are unsure whether something should be reported, it is always better to report it.
What To Do
If you observe suspicious activity:
- Pay attention to the person’s physical characteristics (gender, clothing, build, hair color, tattoos, or other identifying features).
- Note the direction they travel when leaving.
- Bus Route, Bus Number, date and time.
- If a vehicle is involved, try to remember the make, model, color, and license plate number.
- Provide as many details as possible when making your report.
Your observations can help authorities respond quickly and accurately.
What NOT To Do
For your safety:
- Do not confront the person or group.
- Do not attempt to intervene or take action yourself.
- Do not alert the individual who is being reported.
Instead, report the situation to VVTA as quickly as possible.
